BEING ME by Samuel age 11

B e i n g Me

Being me, people always say to be yourself and not to be like other

people for otherwise you will have no point of being in this world if you don’t

make an impact, and for some people they can’t help but fall into what

everyone else is doing and can never speak for themselves, but other

people like me have something different and people make fun of us even if

they are one of the people that they are making fun of but they are to

scared to admit it and disrespect them just because they are different but it

doesn’t have to be that way and it shouldn’t be that way. People always

say, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt

me,” and, in real life that is not at all true, words hurt and I can tell you from

first hand experience being called faggot and many other slurs regarding

me and who I am as a person, so like I said words hurt and sometimes they

hurt more than physical pain because our thoughts influence our actions

and our actions influence our entire life and our life influences the lives of

others, and being brought down like that is not fair for anyone. In our

community we have so many culturally diverse people and so many

different people and no one should be leading us down the dark path we

were already on, and we should see, “a light at the end of the tunnel,” and

celebrate being different, celebrate being me .
